WHO ARE WE
Our Story
BC Fruta Inc. began in 1996, when Abraham and Irma Betancourt, two Mexican immigrants, set out to pursue the American Dream. Both worked for years in agriculture—picking crops in the fields and doing general labor in packing houses—before their paths crossed. Through faith and fate, they found each other, married, and decided to build a better future together. Starting small, they personally harvested and transported a few bins of mandarins each week from California’s Central Valley to the Los Angeles markets in a modest pickup truck, all while raising their family. Although they faced many challenges along the way, Abraham and Irma remained dedicated to achieving their dream. After years of hard work and sacrifice, they were able to save enough to purchase land, build a home, grow their own fruit, and eventually construct a small packing shed. This marked the unofficial creation of their family-run business. It wasn’t until 2010, after steadily growing over the years, that BC Fruta Inc. was officially established. Today, the business continues to flourish under the leadership of Abraham, Irma, and their three sons. BC Fruta Inc. remains focused on bringing the highest quality fruit to market while maintaining positive and fair relationships with local growers, ensuring that delicious, high-quality fruit from their orchards reaches homes throughout the region.
